It’s a fracking T-shirt!

without comments

Sometimes the supposed concept of separation of church and state (or disestablishmentarianism, if you’re in the mood for a long word) is so blatantly violated it’s a wonder these people don’t get prosecuted. But then – hey! - it’s the USA. Anything could happen.

In this case, the thirteen-year-old son of the frontman of a band called Scum of the Earth was told by his art teacher to go out into a corridor, and pray to Jesus for forgiveness: for wearing a fracking T-shirt with a monster, a cross, and the words “SCUM OF THE EARTH” written on it.

The boy’s father, Riggs, says:

“This is ridiculous. [The school in question] is a public school, and there’s supposed to be a separation between church and state. The shirt my son was wearing was for my band, Scum of the Earth. It didn’t contain any foul language, it’s simply a drawing of a monster on a cross… and nothing more. You would think that someone who’s an art teacher would have some understanding of the concept of freedom of speech, and artistic freedom of expression, however this lady is clearly a religions nutcase. It’s just another example of how these people have infiltrated public schools, government and politics in an effort to force their own agenda upon anyone who doesn’t necessarily believe exactly what they do — regardless of what the First Amendment of the United States Constitution says.

True, the teacher was welcome to express his/her distaste, but not to demand he bend on his knees and pray to some phony sky-deity for forgiveness for wearing a fucking T-shirt. In my opinion, the teacher should be fired immediately.

Piss off some creationists. Buy Spore.

without comments

Forget the fact that EA’s newest game, Spore, is hampered by restrictive DRM, and uses an incorrect model of evolution: the fact is that buy buying it, you’ll be cheesing off this twerp. It’s a fracking video game. Not a bad one at that.

Even if you don’t use it, buy a copy and show your support for EA. The comments section on the About page of Anti Spore shows a very hostile reaction from video-game junkies. Oh yes, and human beings. A hand-picked selection of the comments follows after the jump.

You have to see this to believe it

without comments

One has remember that religious zealots are very good at explaining things away. Take global warming. Conservapedia (predictably) claims it is a liberal conspiracy. It seems that this here fellow understands that it’s real, but disagrees with the mainstream on how.

When God sent the rain on this Earth for 40 days and nights, all this water had to go someplace so the Earth would be dry again.

Remember, God is the Creator and controls the universe.

God tilted the Earth from its original position and caused all the excess water to rush to the poles, and there he instantly froze the water into the ice formations that exist today.

Time is ticking down on God’s time clock. With all the nuclear bombs that are made and stored for the fast-emerging last battle, this Earth would burn up when these nuclear bombs are set off.

We are not creating global warming – God is tipping the Earth back to its original position on its axis and thus getting all this ice to get ready to move and extinguish the nuclear destructive fires man will create.

Time is running out, folks. Jesus is coming soon. Do you know him as your personal Savior?

Despite the fact that there is not a shred of evidence to suggest that the Earth is deviating from its normal twenty-six-thousand-year wobble cycle – are we seriously supposed to believe that the sky fairy decided to change the laws of physics… just this once?

Conservapedia’s Bullshit Pile, Part 2

without comments

Here’s an extract from Conservapedia’s article on exobiology:

Today most scientists doubt the existence of life in outer space, yet they support continuing to spend money on searching for it.

The ‘citation’ for this article comes from a Time article from 2000. Not only is that information seriously out of date, it does not mention anywhere that most scientists doubt the existence of life in outer space.

Then again, this same article also claims that it’s a liberal conspiracy to promote communism, disarmament, environmentalism, etc. In case you were wondering, yes, it’s all bullcrap.

So Jebus had GENITALS?

without comments

Some Christians in the UK are getting upset that Jesus may, in fact, have had genitals. And that an art centre is showing a statue of Jesus without a loincloth.

This is conveniently ignoring the fact that Jebus was probably crucified naked (if he ever existed at all) and not with a loincloth. And anyway, it’s a fracking statue. Nothing else. If you don’t like it, piss off.
