Copland III

A fanfare for common sense

Piss off some creationists. Buy Spore.

Forget the fact that EA’s newest game, Spore, is hampered by restrictive DRM, and uses an incorrect model of evolution: the fact is that buy buying it, you’ll be cheesing off this twerp. It’s a fracking video game. Not a bad one at that.

Even if you don’t use it, buy a copy and show your support for EA. The comments section on the About page of Anti Spore shows a very hostile reaction from video-game junkies. Oh yes, and human beings. A hand-picked selection of the comments follows after the jump.

Christian people are fucking stupid. Go worship a dead guy and your fucking cloud people.

My god, you are insane beyond insane.

If God exists, he/she/it is probably facepalming himself/herself/itself for making you.

I don’t even really like Spore that much as a game (not because of what’s in it, rather because it’s just not my type of game), but you’re really just out of your mind for taking it so seriously. Your arguments are extremely weak and mindless – typical of someone who blindly follows the magic man in the sky. I guarantee that God (again, IF, on the off chance, he exists) has much more to worry about than a video game that bases itself in science and creativity.

Your views are based on perverted creatures that users have created. These have nothing to do with the developers of the game. Your problem is with the people who have fired the guns, not the ones who made them.

Get off of the internet, you religious nutjob. While you tend to think the extreme opposite, your kind is a poison upon our planet.

Even Creatards are attacking this imbecile:

I would like to start off by saying that I am a southern Baptist from Tennessee. As many of you may know; I live in the ‘buckle’ of the ‘Bible Belt’, but I can’t agree with what you guys are doing. Now I fully agree with Creationism ( I believe that our Lord created Adam and Eve). I don’t see this game as attacking Christianity. It is unarguable that does involve evolution, but think about it; the character may evolve, but it has to first be “Created” by the user. The second issue that has been brought up is the appearance of ‘Adult’ creatures. Once again these characters have been created by users, and also EA has been cracking down on these ‘Creations’; banning any of them found to be inappropriate. Like I said, I completely disagree with the theory of evolution, but this ‘Spore’ is an issue that needs to be researched more before attacking it. I would love a response to this email, so we can all discuss this issue.

Sincerely,
Joshua Garrett

This comment, from one ‘God’, however, is priceless.

seriously knock it off.

I suspect this Mr. God is planning an extended smiting session to really piss this guy off. Please join in. If you can find the money, buy a copy of Spore and give it a good rating on Amazon. Buy copies for your family and friends too. And send along an e-mail to this guy too, explaining why he/she is a complete and utter idiot. (You might want to buy him a copy of The God Delusion, too.)
